An IDP must be presented alongside the official driver's license of the issuing country. We do not rent to individuals with licenses that restrict them to daytime or business driving only. Renters have the option to purchase a Loss of Use Waiver at the time of rental. Please note that written proof of liability coverage is required at our office.
It is a legal requirement in Nevada to carry proof of liability insurance while driving. You have the option to purchase additional liability coverage if desired. Lefty Lorenzo reserves the right to cancel reservations or rentals for customers we deem uninsured, underinsured, or incapable of safely and legally operating the vehicle. In such situations, the customer will not be charged.
Vehicle Inspection: When the rental car is picked up, both the rental company and the renter will perform a thorough inspection of the vehicle's condition. Any existing damage, no matter how minor, should be documented and agreed upon. This is typically noted on a rental agreement. The rental car must be returned in the same or better condition than when it was rented. Any new damage or incomplete repairs could result in additional charges.
Responsibility for Damage: The renter is responsible for any new damage that occurs during the rental period. This includes damage caused by accidents, collisions, vandalism, or any other means.
Insurance Coverage: The renter's personal auto insurance may cover some or all of the damage costs. We offer additional insurance coverage, like Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), which can reduce or eliminate your financial liability in the event of damage.
Reporting Damage: Immediate Reporting - Any new damage should be reported to the rental company as soon as it occurs or is noticed. This includes contacting them about accidents or incidents involving the vehicle. If the damage is the result of an accident, a police report or accident report will be required.
Cost Responsibility: The renter will be responsible for the cost of repairs up to the limit specified in the rental agreement. If the renter has rental car insurance, there may be a deductible that they need to pay.
It's crucial for renters to read and understand the rental car company's damage policy and to consider additional insurance coverage to protect themselves in case of unforeseen events.
